The "final word" about the Cartoon Riots?

Here's an interesting take from a bunch of cartoonists on all the brouhaha in Islamistan.

Most of it's pretty predictable, you have to scroll to the very end to get to the good part:

"Chronicle cartoonist Don Asmussen will take on the subject in Wednesday's comic, but he has decided that it won't include an image of the prophet.

"It's disturbing to see a culture go crazy over these cartoons when all these horrible things have been done in the name of Islam," said Asmussen, referring to the Sept. 11 attacks and other terrorist acts.

"This is about distortion," he added. "You'd wish that the kinds of riots happening now had happened when bin Laden distorted Islam."
"

But as my friend Terry in SF notes: "Of course, he assumes that bin Laden was distorting Islam. I would say the jury's still out on that ..."

Quote for the Day

"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience...Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves, and all the while the grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem."
